The old goat and I went til dinner with a reservation at 7:30 pm on a Friday, perfect spot to discuss 90 day fiancé. There were probably 6 other tables in the whole restaurant. The restaurant is in the Edwin hotel. The hotel is super cute with Whiskey thief upstairs.
Atmosphere: The vibe from the hotel carries over into the restaurant. Very cute. It got busier After we sat and ordered a drink. That brought the mood up.
Service: Our waiter, Devante, Was exceptional. He was very polite and attentive. Our drinks and food came out quickly and beautifully. Nothing to complain on with the service
Drink/food: I ordered the city center for a drink. Very delicious in a cute glass;) the old goat ordered the filet and I ordered the salmon. Both were so good! Cooked perfectly. The corn served with the salmon was one of the best things I've had in awhile and the potatoes and asparagus with the steak were great too! For desert we had the coffee donut. This came with two different ice creams, coffee cake and beignets. So so so good. I would order all things again!
Tip: this place is a little pricey but so worth it. We did street parking. -

Absolutely worth the visit. Next to Walnut St bridge, inside the Edwin hotel, this cute spot offers decontracted dining in a modern space. Ample distance between tables, yet warm feeling with an industrial feel.
I went "classic" with pasta, my wife picked the cast-iron fondue, a variation around some sort of bisque. Very good.
Kids had pancakes and cheeseburger from kids menu. $5 and $10 respectively. Ok.
We also had the benedict w/ crab cakes. The potatoes had an excellent spicy taste.
Skipped dessert as that was ample food already.
Overall a great addition to Chattanooga's elaborate-dining scene at reasonnable prices.
Not sure why this place wasn't packed for lunchtime on a Saturday! -

This place was just ok. We went on a Tuesday morning so that could be part of it but I was not very impressed with the place as a whole. Their were certain things that were fantastic: like the wait staff, the atmosphere, the decoration and tables and all was perfect, dishes very pretty, and the location couldn't have been more perfect with a view of the river.
All that said, the food was served not that hot, the breakfast potatoes tasted like they were made a couple days ago and reheated ( like chewy), the omelet had a texture that needed to be cut with a knife and the coffee was just ok. The avocado toast was good on sourdough bread.
The people couldn't have been nicer but I did order egg white and received regular egg. I am not one to ever send things back but do appreciate when they get it right as ordered. In general, may not go back unless I need a place in their stellar location. -

We tried Whitebird for brunch this morning, and, while it didn't knock my socks off, it was pretty good. We had a reservation for 10 am on a Sunday, but we didn't need it (they had plenty of tables available).
We all started with coffees (decaf drip, cappuccino, and a flavored latte) - pretty good all around.
My stepdad ordered a smoked salmon croquette "benedict," which they were able to make with egg whites per his request. He liked it.
My mom special ordered a vegan dish, which came with sauteed mushrooms, a beet patty of some kind, some veggies, and some crostini - it was a bit random, but she said she enjoyed it. (I had picked Whitebird for brunch specifically because they had a dish that was labeled as vegan on the menu online the day I made the reservation. My mom is vegan, and I prefer to pick restaurants where she can select a dish without modifications or having to ask 100 questions. However, a few weeks later, and the vegan dish I had seen on the brunch menu was no longer on it. When we asked about it, our waitress had to ask the kitchen if they could make the dish as it was off-menu. They made it, but I wish they had kept a vegan dish on the menu to avoid the confusion.)
My husband tried their breakfast burger (a burger on an English muffin with an over easy egg). He liked the dish (I only tried the meat, which I thought was perfectly cooked and seasoned), but the English muffin fell apart a bit under the weight of burger and the egg yolk.
I got the chicken and waffles (chicken schnitzel and savory corn waffle with a jalapeno maple syrup). I didn't really taste any jalapeno, but I liked the dish overall - well cooked chicken, and the waffle was tasty. (It came with a Brussels sprouts slaw which I ate first, because I wasn't into the idea of mixing it with syrup.)
The service was good, and the restaurant is beautiful. However, the menu wasn't the most exciting, the brunch offerings didn't seem Appalachian at all (and they bill themselves as an Appalachian restaurant), and the food was good, but nothing to write home about. (I took a look at their dinner menu, which looked more interesting/more Appalachian, and I'm definitely willing to consider trying it for dinner on a future visit to Chattanooga.) This is relatively minor, but for a restaurant that was only half full (maybe), the restaurant was very loud - definitely a restaurant I wouldn't take my 95-year-old grandfather to. All in all, it was a good meal, but not a standout. -

I'm a professed non-breakfast eater, but I broke down and decided to walk through the doors of Chattanooga's newest Appalachian cuisine and foodie's dream which is inside the Edwin Hotel - Whitebird. My initial thought was how very smart Whitebird is with everything having a purpose from the food to the artistic design of the space. Details, details, details...
Let's begin with the stunning atmosphere- herringbone jade tile, industrial lighting, a long marble chef table with velvet grey upholstered chairs, and towers of greenery in every nook. Even when you enter, you are greeted by an art piece titled Mystic Dove Juggler by local artist Rick Booth. It is just as if I was being enveloped in calmness, which was a perfect place to be as our meal arrives.
My dining partner HAD to have an appetizer of drop biscuits with sage gravy. I must say that even though I'm a Southern girl, I've never had this dish ever. Today was the day to remedy that. When Gloria came to claim our plates, she asked how we felt about this specialty and we could only think of one word that perfectly fits- ADDICTIVE!
If you come and can only get one thing, get the biscuits and gravy. You'll rave!
Next, we were given our main dishes named "Tried and True" which consisted of eggs, a sample of meats, toast and breakfast potatoes. Delicious beyond measure. During the meal, our server Gloria, oozed Southern charm and spent time talking with us about the genius behind Chef Kevin Korman's creation. She even brought us extra drop biscuits with homemade jam and sesame quinoa crunch topped butter.
We left having that feeling that we wrapped our trip up in the best possible way. Cannot wait until our next trip to Chattanooga and the first thing on the agenda is to make a beeline to Whitebird.
